Story

My mother Margaret and myself, Raylene opened The Fairy Dell on the 18th July 1998.  The Fairy Dell really was born from Mental Health issues.  I had, had quite a bad nervous breakdown, and at times I was unable to even leave my home, and I'm so thankful for the support of my mum Margaret as she was my rock and saviour...and still is.  Life with mental health is very hard on the person suffering but not forgetting those around them and for us it was no different. A challenging decision was made to attempt to get me away for a holiday thinking maybe it would help... you try anything in these situations, so my husband at the time and my parents booked a family holiday to Esperance.  In a small heritage village in the center of town, we found a quaint little fairy shop, run by the loveliest young earthy lady, it was the first time since my nervous breakdown, that I felt comfortable where I was and almost somewhat calm.  My mum took me back there many times during the holiday and we spent time talking and just enjoying the energy and space that she had created.  We returned from the holiday and began my persistent nagging at Mum to open a Fairy Shop.  She had a great point that how could we open a shop when I could hardly at times leave my own home, and she had a job aready..... but being the amazing Mum she is, she said yes, we found a very small shop approximately 31sqm in The Smart St Mall in the Centre of Mandurah, and my Dad helped deck it out and the Joy that is The Fairy Dell was born.  We have since moved across the Mall to a much larger shop, opened our Enchanted Party Room where we host beautiful birthdays, and grown more than we could ever have imagined.  We are all about family and you can often see nieces, granddaughters, Aunty and Grandma all working together.  

We want people to feel the same peaceful, calming feeling when they walk into our fairy shop.  We want you to feel that you can leave the seriousness of the world at the door with all your troubles and just come in and be in the moment.  Feel like you really are at the bottom of a magical fairy garden.
